i don’t really know how to kick this one off, so i’ll get right to it.

i don’t think it’s possible for you to tell me that doesn’t look friggin’ delicious. that’s some tuna steaks with tasty tasty pasta.
i can’t quite believe how simple this dinner turned out to be. tuna steaks are somewhat heavy, so this meal was delightfully filling. and the pasta…well pasta is always good. i like the frying pan pasta. i’ve done it once or twice before, but never with the amount of success i achieved this day.

today i slept till noon. so breakfast was worthless, especially since i’ve had eggs for the best few days and am in no mood for more. so what’s a hungry guy to do?
break out the leftovers, that’s what. mostly because there were no good breakfast foods around and i wasn’t really up for a breakfast brainstorming session. waking up this late actually makes it easier because it’s easy to validate skipping breakfast and starting with lunch.
and my personal favorite vehicle for leftovers? fajita of course.

unnecessary caption to describe obvious food product.
sunday was not the greatest day for food blogging. but i guess i’ll do a quick run-through of what went down.
the morning started with hash browns and a banana strawberry smoothie again. mmm…tasty.
we had lunch at sarah’s parent’s place. meatloaf all around. i put mine on some rye bread. mmm…tasty.
then we watched Charlie Bartlett. enjoyable, though not quite as good as i had anticipated. i didn’t think i liked robert downey jr, but i think this may have changed my mind.
after the film, we stopped at panera bread for some soup. good news and bad news there. their broccoli cheddar and tomato soups are always delicious, but they were approaching closing time. so there was no good bread left. the soup was not piping hot like it usually is, though i can’t complain about that. and finally, the asiago bread bits they gave us for the tomato soup were noticeably stale. but the deliciousness of the soup was enough for me. i don’t know if that’s enough to be considered “dinner and a movie” but either way: mmm…tasty.

so there we were. a lazy saturday morning, putting off getting up for as long as we possible could. and that’s when she said it. those 4 fateful words.
“wanna make hash browns?”
“oh hellz yeah,” i thought. “i’m all up ons.”
of course what i actually said was “great idea honey, and some scrambled eggs to boot.” but when i write the movie of my life, it’ll come out that first way.

it’s all in a days work.

this is how the night ended. fried chicken and mashed potatoes. but we won’t be starting there. you’ll have to make it through the rest of the day before you get to fried chicken and mashed potatoes.

instead of working my usual 12 hour shift, i ended up with a simple 6. that means i didn’t have to leave until about 4pm, giving me time for a late lunch. more of that chili, if you’re wondering. that was the last of it, so you won’t be hearing of it again.

i started the day by sleeping till noon. that’s a good start. when you’re in bed that long the only things that really get you up are hunger, the progressively increasing necessity to scratch various parts of your body, and the overwhelming stink of your own mouth. the problem then becomes how to remedy all of these things and in what order.

just as predicted, the night ended with a second dinner. leftovers yet again. this time courtesy of sarah and her scrumptious eggplant parmigiana together with what was left of a can of Heinz vegetarian beans (they make non-vegetarian beans?). mmm…

well it’s dinner time. i know what you’re thinking. “he skipped lunch!” you’re half right. my eating habits are terrible, this much i admit. sometimes i skip breakfast and go straight to lunch, sometimes it’s dinner all day long. in this particular case it’s skipping lunch and heading straight for dinner, most undoubtedly followed by a late-night second dinner. but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. first dinner comes first.

well this is it. the first of many. i guess i should explain. it’s chocolate chip pancakes. sarah (the other half of “us”) and i made them a couple of days ago. turns out she got to some of them before i did, so these didn’t make much of a breakfast. regardless, believe me when i tell you they taste better than they look.
