so i’ve been wanting to make a nice tasty soup for a while. maybe a soup i haven’t made or eaten a lot of instead of the broccoli cheddar and tomato i usually do (i won’t even link those). not that those soups aren’t delicious and favorites of mine, but i want to expand my menu rather than be doomed to repeat it. so i looked around the kitchen and the internet and settled on a potato soup. maybe a potato and leek soup. i’ve never worked with leeks before, so what the hell? there’s a first time for everything.
except some things. but i don’t want to talk about those things. because they never happen.
as for the fettuccine, it’s a delicious pasta. what else is there to discuss?

no, movie theatres don’t serve chili dogs (but maybe i can use my powerful influence to bring about this kind of change). but that certainly wasn’t going to stop me from gettin’ me a chili dog.
i mean really, when you get hit with some serious hunger, sometimes a chili dog is like a torpedo of satisfaction that is shot directly into your gluttonous belly.
you do realize you have a beard, don’t you?
well that’s how it is for me, anyway.

today i had off, which means i had plenty of time to consider what to eat. and then plenty of time to prepare whatever i would decide to eat. to top it off, sarah was home sick so we could consider these things together.
in the end, we decided upon pizza and tomato soup. the pizza would be somewhat homemade – a store bought pizza dough – and the tomato soup would be entirely homemade.
and here’s a picture to keep you interested.
this is pizza.

unnecessary caption to describe obvious food product.
sunday was not the greatest day for food blogging. but i guess i’ll do a quick run-through of what went down.
the morning started with hash browns and a banana strawberry smoothie again. mmm…tasty.
we had lunch at sarah’s parent’s place. meatloaf all around. i put mine on some rye bread. mmm…tasty.
then we watched Charlie Bartlett. enjoyable, though not quite as good as i had anticipated. i didn’t think i liked robert downey jr, but i think this may have changed my mind.
after the film, we stopped at panera bread for some soup. good news and bad news there. their broccoli cheddar and tomato soups are always delicious, but they were approaching closing time. so there was no good bread left. the soup was not piping hot like it usually is, though i can’t complain about that. and finally, the asiago bread bits they gave us for the tomato soup were noticeably stale. but the deliciousness of the soup was enough for me. i don’t know if that’s enough to be considered “dinner and a movie” but either way: mmm…tasty.

it’s all in a days work.
this is how the night ended. fried chicken and mashed potatoes. but we won’t be starting there. you’ll have to make it through the rest of the day before you get to fried chicken and mashed potatoes.

instead of working my usual 12 hour shift, i ended up with a simple 6. that means i didn’t have to leave until about 4pm, giving me time for a late lunch. more of that chili, if you’re wondering. that was the last of it, so you won’t be hearing of it again.
